About Us
It was my grandfather who taught me to love old photos. He archives meticulously, placing the names and dates of the subjects on the back of each picture. If you ask him who is in the photo or when it was taken, he will immediately turn the photo over and begin to tell a story that would take you on a wonderful journey. The Tees That Bind is about tying the past to the present. Many of the photos on the tees are taken before my time. And though I’ve never met some of the people in them, they all tell a very valid story. Some are sad, some are funny, some are poignant, but they all represent a personal truth. There is something empowering about wearing history on your chest serving as a reminder to all who see it that time moves on . . . valiantly. As it is often said, a picture is worth a thousand words, these pictures; your pictures speak volumes about what every generation has in common: life, love and the pursuit of happiness.
The Tees That Bind encourages you to look through your own archives, find photos long forgotten and wear them with pride. (Click on "Custom Creation" on the Catalog page) Great for family reunions, organizations and parties! Bind your children to their rich and historic ancestry. Tell your story and be a part of history. We also encourage you to look through our in-stock photos. Let them speak to you and decide what they represent to you. Wear them with the same spirit of dignity in which they were taken.
My hope is that one day even the pictures on this site, taken with my family and friends in the year 2007, will one day be worn on the chests of the children of my children’s children. Someone will ask them who is in the photo and they’ll say, “It’s my great-great grandmother.” And they’ll begin to tell a story that takes the listener on a wonderful journey.
**The Tees That Bind is dedicated to my family (Mommy, Gra’mother and Granddaddy, my brother Jarobi, Aunt Cyndi, Uncle Warren, Cecelia and Dad) who have supported me my entire life and yet selflessly look for ways to do more.
**Special thanks to my “models” better known as my sorority sisters. Kamiti Braddy, Michelle Brantley, Shana Brodnax, Lena Holton, LaShawn Miller, and Daneisha Russell. The memories we have together are priceless.
